MEET JUDGE CROW

Judge Kelly Crow has proudly served as the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1, Place 1 since January 1, 2019, and continues to serve in that role today.

A lifelong Fort Bend County resident, Kelly grew up in Mission Bend and graduated from Alief Elsik High School. She attended Texas A&M University, initially pursuing a dream of becoming a veterinarian before realizing her true passion was in law. Kelly earned her degree from Texas A&M in 1994 and went on to graduate from South Texas College of Law in 1997, becoming a licensed attorney later that same year.

Kelly’s career reflects more than two decades of dedicated public service to Fort Bend County. She served as Assistant City Attorney and Prosecutor for the City of Missouri City from 1997 to 2002, and as one of its Associate Judges from 2003 to 2010. From 2011 to 2016, she held the same titles with the City of Sugar Land. Kelly was appointed Presiding Judge for the City of Fulshear in 2008—a position she still holds—and has also served as Presiding Judge for the City of Rosenberg. Before her election to the Justice Court, she worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office from 2017 to 2019.

As Justice of the Peace, Judge Crow presides over Class C misdemeanors, evictions, debt and small claims cases, mental health commitments, and property seizure hearings. Drawing on her lifelong love of animals, she also serves as the designated county judge for dangerous dog and animal cruelty seizure hearings, working closely with Fort Bend County Animal Control, the Houston Humane Society, and their veterinary teams.

Kelly also teaches for the Texas Justice Court Training Center, where she shares her expertise with fellow Justices of the Peace on animal related matters in the Justice Court system. Her work helps ensure fair and informed handling of cases involving animal welfare and ownership across Texas.

Kelly is married to Jeff Sorbel, and together they share a blended family of five sons. She is currently seeking reelection for a third term and would be honored to have your support.
